On top of that, I'll be reviewing classic political texts (everything from Immanual Kant and Georg Hegel to John Rawls and F. A. Hayek) whilst suggesting the best books currently available on certain topics of interest. Additionally, we're keen to invite guests reviews from interested readers (fancy writing a review of TPR? Get in touch at thereader@thepoliticalreader.com).

Our first Sunday review will be The Cracked Bell: America and the Afflictions of Liberty, a fascinating insight into America from a British Social Anthropologist who worked at the British Embassy in Washington. Why not read this book and make your contribution to discussion? Click here to buy.

Launching on July 3rd!

The Political Reader is launching on July 3rd!

From July 3rd, I will be posting several times a week on the books every politico ought to know. And every Sunday, I will publish a full-length review of the latest book I have been reading - and I'll let you know a week in advance what book it's going to be so you can read along and keep up-to-date. In the meantime, we've got competitions...

So follow us on Twitter! (@PoliticalReader) One of our new followers will be selected on July 3rd to win a copy of Francis Beckett's 'The Prime Ministers Who Never Were', a miscellany of contributions from contemporary politicians on who they think came closest to peaking the greasy poll, only to lose their grip at the top. Remember, follow us on Twitter (@PoliticalReader) to be in with a chance of winning.

The first book under review will be 'The Cracked Bell' by Tristram Riley-Smith. As a former worker at the British Embassy in the United States, Tristram offers a fascinating insight into the role of liberty in America and the damage this ideal may be doing to the beacon of the world. If you want to join in the reading and contribute to the debate, click the link below the purchase your copy of 'The Cracked Bell'.

The Cracked Bell: America and the Afflictions of Liberty

So, follow us on Twitter for your chance to win in our first competition and come back soon for the first of many reviews.

Yours,

The Political Reader

A Welcome Message from ThePoliticalReader

Hello there!

Welcome to my blog - a site to review the best and the rest in the world of political books.

As I read books, and as I reflect on the books I have been reading, I will post reviews here and offer you the opportunity to read the book and share your thoughts too.

For those of us interested in politics: it's an obsession, not an interest. And what better way to satisfy our thirst than with the pages of a great political classic or the latest analysis/narrative?

Come back soon for our first review... and bookmark us to keep up-to-date!

Yours,

ThePoliticalReader
